Cyprus Red Cross Society receives donation from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has donated 250 wheelchairs and other items such as quilts, medical supplies, neo-natal & school equipment, walking frames, walking sticks and other mobility aids to the Cyprus Red Cross Society (CRCS) to support the organization in helping its beneficiaries in Cyprus.
The President of the CRCS, Mrs. Fotini Papadopoulos, Labour and Social Insurance Minister Mrs. Sotiroulla Charalambous, Mr. Christopher Charles, representative of the Church of Jesus Christ for Greece and Cyprus delivered speeches during a special ceremony at the Red Cross premises in Nicosia, on Wednesday, April 21, at 9.00a.m.
The first container with wheelchairs and other items arrived late in December and the second on March 3. They were both delivered to the Nicosia Headquarters of the CRCS and volunteers from the Church and the Red Cross helped in unloading them.
Takis Neophytou, Director General of the Cyprus Red Cross, expressed words of sincere appreciation to the Church and its members for the service rendered. In turn, the Church thanked the Red Cross and its leadership for the opportunity offered to serve the people of Cyprus, hoping this event would be the first of other future joint projects.
