World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims Cyprus Red Cross Society Event

Within its Road Safety Campaign and with the opportunity of the World Day of Remembrance for road traffic victims, the Cyprus Red Cross Society in cooperation with the Ayios Georgios Lyceum of Lakatamia, organised an event on Sunday, 16 November 2008, at 6.00p.m. at Lakatamias Town Hall.

The event was dedicated to the memory of the two children Vasilis and Argyro, students of Ayios Georgios Lyceum, who lost their life in a road traffic accident.

The ceremony was attended by the parents and relatives of the two children, the Director of the Lyceum, the Mayor of Lakatamia, representatives of the Cyprus Red Cross Society and lots of students and friends of the victims.

The Mayor, in his brief address, expressed his deepest condolence to the family of the victims, stressed the importance of Road Safety and congratulated the Cyprus Red Cross Society for organising the activity.

All through the event and during the march from the Town Hall to the scene of the accident, which followed, all people present carried a lighted candle in memory of the two children.

The Cyprus Red Cross Society strengthens its appeal to the public to try not to mourn any more victims on the asphalt and to take seriously into consideration the message of the campaign

“YOU’VE ONLY GOT ONE LIFE! TAKE CARE”
